The International Wine Challenge, one of the world's most influential wine competitions, has announced the results of its 2024 competition, marking its 40th year. Medals were awarded to 38 winemaking countries following a blind tasting by an international panel of experts last month. 

France, Australia and Spain were top of the medal table, with the Robert Oatley The Pennant Frankland River Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 taking out the International Cabernet Sauvignon Trophy, asserting Australia’s dominance in Cabernet Sauvignon production.

Awarding the wine 96 pts (GOLD), the judging notes were: “Warm ripe dark fruit, spiked with savoury and baking spices, full ripe palate, offering flavours of chocolate and confit plums, with breadth and body and returning a rich tannic structure that will allow this to age for years.”
