Granite Hills Shiraz 2019 is a dry, medium-to-full-bodied red wine from the Macedon Ranges in Victoria, produced by one of the region's pioneering wineries. Made from Shiraz, it brings together ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit, distinctive cool-climate pepper and savoury spice, supported by fine tannins and carefully integrated oak. The wine combines generous flavour with the freshness and structure associated with the Macedon Ranges, offering a mature expression of Australian cool-climate Shiraz.

Granite Hills established its vineyard in 1970, making it one of the early modern wine-growing properties in the Macedon Ranges. The vineyard's elevated position and cool growing conditions contribute to the region's distinctive wine styles. Shiraz has been part of Granite Hills' story since its first vintage in 1978, with the winery developing a reputation for peppery, structured wines capable of rewarding patient cellaring.

The winery's established Shiraz production includes destemming and open fermentation, with careful hand plunging to manage colour, flavour and tannin extraction. The 2019 wine underwent extended maturation in oak, predominantly French, helping bring together its dark-fruit character, savoury complexity and fine structure. Oak supports the wine rather than dominating its distinctive peppery varietal expression.

At the table, this Shiraz pairs naturally with roast lamb, grilled beef, venison and slow-cooked mushroom dishes. Its savoury spice and structured palate also suit mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 16–18°C in a generous red wine glass. With several years of bottle development already behind it, the 2019 vintage can be enjoyed now or cellared further under suitable conditions.
