Escarpment Te Rehua Pinot Noir 2022 is sourced from one of Martinborough’s oldest and most distinguished vineyard blocks — a warm, free-draining alluvial gravel site close to the village with a long-held reputation for Pinot Noir of richer fruit profile and dense tannin structure. Dark chocolate, soy, Christmas cake, and rich sweet fruits on the nose with dried herbs, paprika, black olives, and dark berries; luscious and densely structured on the palate with firm tannins and aromatic lift from 21% whole cluster inclusion. Unfined and unfiltered. 43% new French oak. 20 months maturation.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Deep, rich ruby with the concentrated, vivid colour of a Martinborough Pinot Noir of genuine site character and dense structure — Te Rehua at its most expressive.

Aroma

Luscious and immediately captivating — dark chocolate, soy, Christmas cake, and rich sweet fruits lead, with dried herbs, paprika, black olives, and dark berries adding savoury complexity and depth. Whole cluster inclusion provides aromatic lift and focus throughout.

Palate

Dense and structured — rich dark fruit and savoury complexity carry through a palate of firm tannins and genuine Martinborough Pinot Noir character. Unfined and unfiltered for a soft, natural mouthfeel. A wine built for the long term.
