Winemaking Notes

Cantina di Gambellara Monopolio Pinot Grigio 2025 is crafted from carefully harvested Pinot Grigio grapes from vineyards in the Gambellara DOC region, where volcanic basalt soils impart distinctive aromatic finesse to the wines. Following gentle pressing, the juice underwent cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh fruit character and elegant aromatics of white peach and mango. The wine was aged on fine lees to develop texture and complexity whilst maintaining its crisp, refreshing profile, showcasing the pure expression of white peach and tropical fruit flavours characteristic of this terroir. Gambellara is a land of basalts, dark rocks and an extinct volcano that have characterised the territory and give great aromatic finesse to the wines. The Monopolio selection showcases small treasures from this unique terroir, with cool fermentation and lees ageing ensuring the wine displays fruity, intense aromatics with balanced, dry finish and excellent purity and length.

Vintage Conditions

The 2025 vintage in Gambellara DOC benefited from the unique volcanic soils of basalt and dark rocks, remnants of an extinct volcano that provided excellent drainage and mineral complexity to the Pinot Grigio grapes. The warm days and cool nights allowed the grapes to develop concentrated fruit flavours of white peach and mango whilst retaining natural acidity and freshness. These conditions, combined with the distinctive terroir of Gambellara, resulted in wines with exceptional aromatic finesse, purity and the balanced, dry character for which the region is renowned. Cantina di Gambellara, established in 1947 as the first cooperative winery in the province of Vicenza, continues to showcase the monopoly of the Gambellara DOC denomination on the territory. The 2025 vintage represents the best of Italian wine from this distinctive volcanic landscape, with basalt-rich volcanic soils imparting subtle mineral undertones and aromatic finesse that define the Monopolio Pinot Grigio as a small treasure from this unique Veneto terroir.
