Blue Pyrenees Estate Section One Shiraz 2024 is sourced entirely from the oldest Shiraz vines on the estate — 50-year-old vines in the Pyrenees, Victoria, naturally low cropping at 3.5 tonnes per hectare. Medium purple-red with ripe forest berry fruits, lifted violets, five spice and graphite on the nose, intense blueberry, white pepper and sandalwood spice on the palate, with fine powdery tannins and a pure acid line delivering a classic medium-bodied finish. Gold Medal, Rutherglen Wine Show 2025.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Blue Pyrenees Estate Section One Shiraz 2024 presents a medium purple-red hue with excellent depth and clarity — the hallmark of a single-site Pyrenees Shiraz sourced from 50-year-old estate vines, naturally low cropping at 3.5 tonnes per hectare and machine harvested in the early hours of 15 March 2024. Elegant and immediately compelling in the glass.

Aroma

Ripe forest berry fruits and lifted violets open with high-toned floral aromatics that are the signature of Blue Pyrenees Estate’s oldest Shiraz vines — nuanced by subtle aromas of five spice and graphite derived from fine grain French oak. A nose of genuine purity, delicacy and complexity that speaks eloquently of the Pyrenees terroir and the maturity of the estate’s Section One vines.

Palate

Intense blueberry fruit is layered by white pepper and sandalwood spice with a purity and precision that is immediately impressive — a clean acid line directs the classic medium-bodied palate from front to back with seamless structure and length. Fine, powdery tannins elongate the finish with elegance and refinement. A Shiraz of exceptional balance, purity and long-term cellaring potential.

Pairs With

A natural match for roasted lamb rack, duck confit, beef tenderloin or a classic Pyrenees charcuterie board — equally outstanding alongside wild mushroom risotto, aged hard cheeses or a slow-braised Provençal lamb. The blueberry fruit, white pepper, sandalwood spice and fine powdery tannins make this one of the most elegant and rewarding cool-climate Shiraz expressions from Victoria. Drink now through 2039+.

Winemaking Notes

Blue Pyrenees Estate Section One Shiraz 2024 is sourced entirely from the oldest Shiraz vines on the estate at 50 years of age — naturally low cropping at 3.5 tonnes per hectare, machine harvested in the early hours of 15 March 2024. A high percentage of whole berries were retained and fermented in five-tonne open top fermenters, pumped over twice daily until 4 Baumé then backed off to once per day, with fermentation kept below 26°C throughout to retain aromatic purity and extract fine, powdery tannin. Pressed at dryness and matured in 15% new and seasoned tight grain French oak puncheons for 11 months. 14% alc. 750ml. Pyrenees, Victoria, Australia.

Vintage Conditions

The 2024 vintage at Blue Pyrenees Estate delivered fruit of exceptional quality from the Section One block — 50-year-old Shiraz vines that consistently produce wines of high-toned floral aromatics, delicate blue fruit flavours and long, seamless structure. Enjoy now in its youthful beauty, or cellar with confidence for 10 to 15 years as flavours continue to complex and expand. Gold Medal, Rutherglen Wine Show 2025.
