Tasting Notes

Appearance

This distinguished Yarra Valley Pinot Noir presents a bright ruby colour with a striking magenta hue and brilliant clarity, displaying the exceptional quality characteristic of 100% estate-grown Pinot Noir from Yering Station’s Village range — classic expressions of the varieties that the Yarra Valley does best.

Aroma

The nose is fragrant and inviting, with plump raspberries, cherries and cacao creating a sophisticated aromatic profile. Freshly picked raspberries, bright florals and a little sandalwood incense weave together with salted strawberries and chocolate-coated coffee beans, creating a bouquet of remarkable freshness and complexity that speaks eloquently of cool-climate Yarra Valley Pinot Noir.

Palate

The energetic palate is brimming with red and dark berries and cranberries, supported by a silky tannin that provides a great frame for the plump, fruitful profile. Beneath these highlights lies wonderful complexity of subtle toasted oak and freshly tilled earth. Juicy and lush with bountiful cherry and macerated strawberries, beautiful fresh acidity drives into a long, youthful and delicious finish. Drink now through 2028, ideally slightly cooler than room temperature.

Pairs With

This exceptional Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is a natural companion to duck confit, salmon en croûte, mushroom risotto, roast chicken, charcuterie, or pinot-friendly dishes with earthy and umami character, making it ideal for elegant casual dining and special occasions that call for a wine of genuine cool-climate finesse.

Critical Acclaim

“Like the Village Chardonnay, this over-delivers for the price in this excellent vintage. A light, bright crimson. Fragrant with aromas of freshly picked raspberries, bright florals and a little sandalwood incense. Bright and succulent on the medium-bodied palate, with silky tannins making for a very tasty wine to drink now and over the next two to three years.”
94 Points — Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

“Fresh. Wise. Vibrant. Australia needs more wines of this quality, sitting at the thirty-dollar mark. Take a bow. Salted strawberries, red cherries and chocolate-coated coffee beans. Smart winemaking. No peacocking. Pleased with itself, though. In the mouth, it made me smile. Firm yet graceful tannins, sprightly acid and gentle edges. Tight on opening, I suspect it will stretch out nicely over the next year. A touch of rose petal and blood orange through the finish. Drink slightly cooler than room temperature. Stock up.”
93 Points — Cyndall Petty, Wine Pilot

Winemaking Notes

Yering Station Village Pinot Noir 2025 is crafted using totally de-stemmed, whole berry ferments to preserve the bright, vibrant fruit flavours that define this classic Yarra Valley expression. Hand plunging is undertaken once a day, increasing to twice daily during peak ferment to maximise colour and flavour extraction. The wine is gently pressed with the final 50–100 L/t separated off to avoid hard tannins, ensuring the silky, supple tannin structure that frames the plump, fruitful palate. The winemaking philosophy is focused on letting the bright, vibrant fruit flavours speak for themselves — juicy and lush from the get-go, with beautiful fresh acidity driving into a long finish. Technical details: Alcohol 13.0% · pH 3.53 · Bottle size 750ml.

Vintage Conditions

The Yarra Valley is Victoria’s most celebrated cool-climate wine region, renowned for producing Pinot Noir of exceptional finesse, elegance and complexity. The region’s elevated altitude, cool temperatures and significant diurnal variation create ideal conditions for slow, even fruit ripening, allowing Pinot Noir to develop the natural acidity, silky tannins and vibrant red fruit character that define the classic Yarra Valley style. The 2025 vintage delivered the cool-climate conditions that the Yarra Valley is celebrated for, producing fruit with plump raspberries, cherries and cacao character alongside wonderful complexity of subtle toasted oak and freshly tilled earth. The vintage’s energetic, youthful character is a direct reflection of Yering Station’s estate vineyards and their ability to consistently produce Pinot Noir of exceptional quality and cool-climate purity.
