Winemaking Notes

Harvested in the cool of the early morning, Pinot Gris from optimum vineyard sites throughout the Clare Valley was crushed, chilled to 5 degrees, pressed and the pressings separated. A cool and steady fermentation for two weeks has produced maximum lifted varietal fruit expression. Individual vineyard parcels were filtered before carefully blending. The wine has been cold and protein stabilised to industry standards, filtered and bottled under screw cap to encapsulate the flavours and ensure freshness. In one of the most unique and picturesque wine regions of the world Alsace (France), Riesling and Pinot Gris grow side by side in the best sites down the hills of the Vosges Mountains. After visiting the region in the late '90s, it seemed logical for Tim that if Clare Valley had the conditions to produce world-class Rieslings, it could also deliver quality Pinot Gris and the first vines were planted in the Ladera vineyard. Three decades later, Tim Adams is proudly making one of the most popular white wines in Australia.

Vintage Conditions

The growing season leading to vintage 2025 was one of the most challenging on record with an early budburst followed by frost, drought and consistent hot weather. Vintage started late in January with Ladera Pinot Gris being harvested two weeks earlier than in 2024. Despite the adverse conditions, good vineyard practices and careful winemaking decisions have certainly paid off. The 2025 vintage showcases corella pear, stone fruits, honeydew melon and subtle lychee, all backed up by a refreshing acidity that gives the wine a crisp crunchy fruit character. The challenging conditions resulted in concentrated fruit flavours whilst maintaining the wine's signature freshness and vibrancy. True to the Tim Adams style and undoubtedly another classic release of Pinot Gris. The combination of early morning harvesting, cool fermentation and careful blending has produced a wine with maximum lifted varietal fruit expression, encapsulated under screw cap to ensure freshness. A great food-wine; enjoy whilst it is young and vibrant.
