Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz 2025 is one of Australia’s most storied Shiraz expressions — first crafted in 1953 by Australian winemaking legend Colin Preece, and named after the picturesque Mount Chalambar in Victoria’s Grampians region. A multi-regional blend of premium Shiraz parcels sourced from some of Victoria’s finest viticultural regions, with the cool, dry Grampians at its heart — a terroir where viticulture dates back to the 1850s Victorian gold rush, and where delicate yet intensely flavoured Shiraz of compelling fragrance and spice is the golden nugget. Dark blackberry and plum on the nose with regional black pepper, spice, and a hint of flinty minerality; soft and plush on the palate with fine, velvety tannins and a mineral texture. Drink now to 2035.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Deep, rich ruby — the concentrated, vibrant colour of a multi-regional Victorian Shiraz with the Grampians at its heart, with the depth and intensity that over 70 years of Chalambar winemaking tradition and Clare Dry’s precision deliver.

Aroma

Dark fruited blackberry and plum — with regional black pepper and spice of the Grampians creating an enticing nose with a hint of flinty minerality. The compelling fragrance and spice that have defined Chalambar Shiraz since Colin Preece first crafted it in 1953.

Palate

Soft and plush with a fine, medium-bodied structure — blackberry and mulberry fruits marrying with complex spice, supported by fine, velvety tannins and a mineral texture. The delicate yet intensely flavoured character of the Grampians terroir, beautifully expressed.

Pairs With

A natural companion for roasted beef, slow-braised lamb, duck confit, hearty vegetable dishes, and wood-fired pizza — Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz 2025 is a versatile and rewarding table wine equally at home on a weeknight or a special occasion. Drink now to 2035.

Finish

Soft, mineral, and deeply satisfying — blackberry, mulberry, black pepper, and spice fading with fine, velvety tannins and the flinty minerality that makes Chalambar Shiraz one of Victoria’s most distinctive and enduring expressions. A wine with over 70 years of history in every glass.

Producer History

Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz was first crafted in 1953 by Colin Preece — one of the most celebrated winemakers in Australian history — and named after the picturesque Mount Chalambar in Victoria’s Grampians region. Viticulture in the Grampians dates back to the 1850s Victorian gold rush, in a cool and dry terroir that produces delicate yet intensely flavoured Shiraz of compelling fragrance and spice. Today, winemaker Clare Dry continues that tradition — bringing a Bachelor of Oenology from the University of Adelaide, extensive experience across Victoria, Germany, and Wolf Blass, and a deep passion for premium varietal expression to every vintage of Chalambar Shiraz.
