The 2019 Tim Adams Fergus is a masterful Clare Valley blend of Grenache, Tempranillo, and Malbec, showcasing the best of each variety in perfect harmony. This elegant red wine delivers layers of complexity with vibrant fruit character and exceptional balance.

Appearance

Deep ruby red with garnet highlights, displaying medium to full body with excellent clarity and viscosity that hints at the wine's concentrated flavours.

Aroma

The nose opens with enticing aromas of fresh red strawberry and bright cherry, complemented by subtle spice notes from the Grenache component. Delicate floral hints of violet emerge alongside gentle oak integration, creating an inviting and complex bouquet.

Palate

Tempranillo takes centre stage on the palate, delivering its distinctive savoury character and fine-grained tannins. Grenache contributes warming spice and red berry fruit, whilst Malbec adds mid-palate depth with rich plum and violet nuances. The wine shows excellent structure with balanced acidity, leading to a smooth, lingering finish with gentle spice notes.

Pairs With

This versatile blend complements grilled lamb chops, Spanish-style tapas, mushroom risotto, aged Manchego cheese, or slow-cooked beef dishes. The wine's medium body and balanced tannins make it equally enjoyable with charcuterie boards or as a standalone sipper.

Winery & Vintage Info

All the fruit parcels used to produce this wine were left on the vines to fully ripen, and then de-stemmed, crushed and fermented separately on skins for 7 to 10 days. After a carefully managed fermentation that promoted colour extraction while limiting the harsh tannins uptake, the wines were pressed off skins and some of the softer and balanced pressings combined back with the free run. The different wine components were then filtered, blended and transferred to a mixture of older French oak hogsheads. The wine remained in oak for 24 months before bottling under screw cap for freshness and authenticity.
