Paringa Estate Estate Pinot Noir 2022 is a 95-point Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir from winemakers Lindsay McCall and Jamie McCall — a blend of fruit from the best blocks of the Callanan’s Road estate vineyard, planted in the late 1980s, from an outstanding low-yielding vintage that produced perfumed, powerful Pinots with impressive fruit weight and lively acidity. Lifted floral aromatics mingle with red and dark cherry notes on the nose, and the palate is truly magnificent: beautiful texture and balance, with layers of flavour building to a long, complex finish.

Appearance

Gorgeous bright garnet — the vibrant, inviting colour of a Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir from low-yielding estate vines over thirty years old, with the clarity and depth that vine maturity and careful winemaking deliver.

Aroma

Lifted, floral aromatics mingling with red and dark cherry notes — intense flavours of black cherries, strawberries, and fruit compote, then woodsmoke, forest floor, and garrigue, plus cedary oak with a slight bitter green walnut character. Perfumed, powerful, and immediately captivating.

Palate

Truly magnificent — beautiful texture and balance, with layers of flavour building to a long, complex finish. The fuller-bodied palate bolstered by plentiful tannins yet reined in by refreshing acidity. Savoury and fruit-driven in equal measure, with the whole bunch fermentation adding an extra dimension of aroma and flavour that defines the 2022 vintage at Paringa.

Pairs With

Roasted duck breast, slow-braised lamb shoulder, mushroom risotto, or aged pinot-friendly cheeses — the plentiful tannins, refreshing acidity, and savoury complexity make this a natural and elegant partner for the finest ingredients at the table.

Reviews

“For immediate appeal, the Estate is my preferred go-to wine. It’s a gorgeous bright garnet, full of intense flavours – savoury and fruit-driven, as in black cherries, strawberries and fruit compote, then up comes some woodsmoke, forest floor and garrigue plus cedary oak with a slight bitter green walnut character. The fuller-bodied palate is bolstered by plentiful tannins yet reined in by refreshing acidity.”
95 Points — Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion (August 2024)

Vintage Conditions

2022 is an outstanding low-yielding vintage on the Mornington Peninsula — producing perfumed, powerful Pinots with impressive fruit weight and lively acidity. The low yields from estate vines over thirty years old, combined with constant attention to detail in the vineyard and the maturity of the vines, produced fruit of outstanding quality and the unique Paringa style upon which the winery’s reputation has been built.
