Local Brewing Co. started back in 2019 — just a bunch of uni mates based in Clifton Hill, Victoria, with a love for beer and a bigger idea: what if beer could do good? They started donating meals to people doing it tough with every beer sold, and brewing with surplus rescued produce — bread, oranges, mandarins, and more — that would otherwise end up in landfill. Since then, Local has donated over 500,000 meals and saved over 50 tonnes of bread and fruit from waste. Half a million feeds for people in need, thanks to the beer being poured and drunk across Australia. Local believes every drink enjoyed in Australia should taste good and do good — and they’re building a brand that proves it, one rescued loaf and one donated meal at a time.
