Hop Hen Pale Ale is brewed using a blend of four iconic hop varieties — Galaxy, Citra, Cascade, and Chinook — each contributing distinct layers of citrus, tropical, and floral character. The brewing process prioritises balance and drinkability, resulting in a pale ale that's full of flavour without being overly bitter.
Producer History
Hop Hen Brewing is a proudly independent, family-owned business based in Lilydale, Melbourne. Founded by Mike and Jodie after a road trip down the west coast of Australia in 2016 — where the pair fell in love with the craft beer scene at countless micro-breweries along the way — the brewery was born from a genuine passion for hand-crafted beer.
Inspired to bring that same spirit back to their home town, Mike made the bold decision to leave behind a nine-year career as a Primary School Principal and turn his brewing hobby into a family business. The name Hop Hen came naturally: Mike, Jodie, and their children harvest hops from the plants that grow over the chicken pen in their own backyard — a detail that perfectly captures the heart and soul of everything they brew.
