Fat Bastard Mendoza Malbec 2024 is a bold Argentinian red wine showcasing the exceptional terroir of Mendoza, delivering rich cherry, plum and vanilla flavours with remarkable depth and character.

Appearance

This Malbec presents a deep, inky purple hue with vibrant ruby highlights at the rim. The wine displays excellent viscosity, with pronounced legs that cascade slowly down the glass, indicating its full-bodied nature and generous alcohol content.

Aroma

The nose is immediately captivating, offering an aromatic bouquet of ripe dark fruits. Luscious black cherry and sweet plum dominate, complemented by layers of vanilla from oak ageing. Subtle hints of tobacco leaf and cured meats add complexity, whilst a whisper of violet and dark chocolate rounds out the aromatic profile.

Palate

On the palate, this Malbec is succulent and velvety, with a rich, mouth-coating texture. The flavour profile mirrors the nose beautifully—concentrated notes of black cherry and plum are enhanced by sweet vanilla and gentle spice. The tobacco character becomes more pronounced mid-palate, adding a sophisticated, savoury dimension. Soft, integrated tannins provide structure without overwhelming, whilst balanced acidity ensures freshness. The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering fruit and subtle oak nuances.

Pairs With

This versatile Malbec pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye steak, slow-cooked lamb shanks, beef empanadas, or mature hard cheeses such as aged Manchego. It's equally delightful alongside barbecued meats or hearty pasta dishes with rich tomato-based sauces.
