De Bortoli Buttery Chardonnay 2024 (Riverina)

Fruit classification for the De Bortoli Buttery Chardonnay was determined based on vineyards exhibiting flavour expression characteristics indicative of high quality. Vineyards with healthy balance, fresh stone fruit profiles, and natural acidity were selected for this wine style.

Following a dry winter, late spring and early summer rains stimulated vine growth, resulting in average yields across the white grape varieties. Harvest commenced on January 21st. Due to lower crop volumes, the fruit ripened rapidly and consistently.

The Buttery Chatrdonnay underwent cool fermentation over a one- to two-week period, with the majority fermented on house-selected oak. Post-fermentation, it then matured on fine yeast lees for eight months to enhance palate weight and texture. The entire blend underwent malolactic fermentation to add length and complexity. A truly serious medium bodied Australian Chardonnay.
