Petaluma was founded by Brian Croser in 1976 on a simple conviction: Australia's finest wines would come from cool-climate regions with strong site identity. Five decades on, that conviction still shapes the wines Petaluma produces.

Why Petaluma Matters

Clare Valley Riesling, Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay and Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon are the three regional pillars of Petaluma — each reflecting the relationship between variety and place. The Clare Valley's limestone soils and warm days with cool nights produce Riesling of purity and longevity. The Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills gives Chardonnay cool temperatures and natural acidity for texture and complexity, while Coonawarra's terra rossa over limestone produces Cabernet Sauvignon with structure, elegance and regional character.

Chief Winemaker Ben Thoman continues the site-focused approach established by Croser, with precise, restrained winemaking designed to let site and variety speak.

The Petaluma Portfolio

Petaluma's portfolio extends across its Yellow Label, White Label and Lumos wines, alongside wines identified with its key regional sites. The Adelaide Hills is also home to Croser, Petaluma's sparkling wine label, with non-vintage and vintage expressions adding another dimension to the broader portfolio.
