Winemaking Notes
The Hero Preservative Free Pinot Noir 2025 is hand-crafted from the best quality fruit sourced from premium vineyards across South Australia, including McLaren Vale and the Barossa. Healthy and problem-free fruit is selected in the vineyard and then picked in the cool of the night before being rushed to the nearby winery for fast and focused vinification. Fermentation takes place at cool temperatures in a closed static fermenter to preserve the delicate aromatics and fruit character. The wine undergoes a short maturation on lees to develop subtle texture and complexity before bottling. With meticulous handling in the vineyard and winery, the pristine fruit has less exposure to anything harmful that may normally require the addition of preservatives, allowing the wine to sing without preservatives whilst remaining vegan-friendly.
Vintage Conditions
The 2025 vintage in South Australia provided excellent conditions for producing vibrant, fruit-forward Pinot Noir. A mild winter with adequate rainfall replenished soil moisture reserves, setting the stage for healthy vine growth across McLaren Vale and the Barossa regions. Spring brought consistent temperatures that encouraged even budbreak and flowering. The growing season featured warm days balanced by cool nights, which intensified fruit flavours and aromatic compounds whilst preserving natural acidity. Harvest took place in the cool of the night under clear skies, with grapes picked at optimal ripeness to capture the bright raspberry and cherry character that defines this wine. The 2025 conditions delivered pristine, problem-free fruit with exceptional colour, fragrance and flavour intensity.
