A perennial favourite enjoyed by the glass in restaurants, it has also been named in the “2019 Wine & Spirits Restaurant Top 10” Sauvignon Blanc category.
The secret to Kim Crawford’s success is serious attention to detail in the vineyards and winery, with a special focus on sustainable practices, individual vineyard block harvesting, and small lot fermentation.
The Marlborough wine region is situated at 41º latitude south on the north end of the South Island. It is one of New Zealand’s sunniest and driest regions where the average daily temperature in summer reaches nearly 24ºC (75ºF) resulting in a high heat summation for the growing season.
During the daytime, strong and warm north-westerly winds from the mountains prevail, encouraging flower fertility and ripening. In the evenings, the temperature shifts. Clear cool nights from ocean breezes keep acid levels high in the grapes. This diurnal shift is one of the critical components contributing to the intensity of our Marlborough wines.
