Chalk Hill Luna Shiraz 2022 (McLaren Vale)

2022 was a milder vintage producing a smaller than average crops. A long and dry ripening season prevailed producing wines with excellent varietal character that were well balanced.

8 different blocks were used for this wine. Each were harvested and fermented separately when each were considered at their optimum ripeness. 7-day ferments, using cultured yeast.

Stored in a combination of older French oak barrels and stainless-steel tank. A final blend was put together of selected parcels a few months prior to bottling to allow it to meld together pre bottling. We use a small volume of Barbera in this Shiraz to give a little more complexity, some fresh acidity and fine tannins.
