Winemaking Notes

Deeply rooted in the soils of Mendoza and crafted with the spirit of Argentina, Argento embodies the essence of modern Argentinian winemaking. Since 1998, the winery has unlocked the extraordinary potential of Malbec, revealing its vibrant, velvety character and intense flavours from grapes grown at the foothills of the Andes. The winemaking philosophy centres on blending fruit from various altitudes, soil profiles, and microclimates across Mendoza's main regions—the Uco Valley, Central Region, and Eastern Region—creating wines with greater complexity and balance. Grapes are harvested at the exact moment when sugar, acids, and polyphenols achieve perfect balance, then pressed with care and fermented at controlled temperatures to extract intense fruit characters. The must is protected from oxidation throughout to maintain freshness, whilst selected French and American oak barrels develop vanilla, tobacco, and chocolate characters, bringing further complexity to the final blend.

Vintage Conditions

The vintage benefited from Mendoza's high-altitude desert climate, intense sunlight exposure, and pure glacial melt-waters from the Andes Mountains. Bodega Argento's vineyards in the Maipú area of Mendoza's Central Region, along with estate-owned sites in Cruz de Piedra, Alto Agrelo, Ugarteche, and Altamira districts, experienced ideal growing conditions. The winery's commitment to organic viticulture ensures healthy vines and perfectly ripened grapes. Canopy management and terroir-focused vineyard practices allowed the fruit to develop optimal ripeness whilst maintaining the vibrant fruit purity, elegance, and varietal expression that defines the Argento style. The combination of up to 12 different vineyard sites in the final blend showcases the diversity and quality of this exceptional vintage.
