Rutherglen Wine Region – Australia's Fortified Wine Capital

Located in north-east Victoria, Rutherglen is renowned as Australia's premier fortified wine region, though it also produces exceptional full-bodied red wines. The region enjoys a warm continental climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, creating ideal conditions for ripening bold red varieties. The ancient soils and warm days followed by cool nights allow grapes to develop intense flavours whilst maintaining natural acidity and structure.

Shiraz & Durif – Rutherglen's Signature Varieties

Warrabilla specialises in two powerhouse varieties perfectly suited to Rutherglen's climate. Shiraz thrives in the warm conditions, producing wines of immense depth with rich dark fruit, spice, and velvety tannins. Durif (known as Petite Sirah in California) is a rare variety that excels in Rutherglen, yielding wines of extraordinary concentration, deep colour, and robust structure with flavours of blackberry, plum, and pepper.
