Pipers Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a beautifully expressive Tasmanian white — produced from grapes grown at Strathlynn on the west bank of the Tamar River, where hillside slopes offer protection from prevailing westerly winds and promote warm, settled conditions throughout the growing season. Fresh ripe citrus, honeysuckle, and melon on the nose with notes of blackcurrant leaf; enticing citrus flavours with crisp and delicate acidity on the palate. Cold harvested at night, carefully handled to preserve naturally vibrant tropical aromas, and fermented very slowly at cool temperatures in stainless steel before early bottling under screw cap — a wine of genuine Tasmanian freshness, precision, and character.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Pale straw with a bright, luminous clarity — the fresh, inviting colour of a cool-climate Tasmanian Sauvignon Blanc of genuine precision and character, with the vibrancy and purity that night harvesting and cool fermentation in stainless steel deliver.

Aroma

Fresh and immediately expressive — ripe citrus, honeysuckle, and melon lead with brightness and elegance, with notes of blackcurrant leaf adding a herbaceous lift and complexity. Intensely perfumed and unmistakably Tasmanian in character.

Palate

Enticing and crisp — citrus flavours carry through a palate of genuine freshness and delicate acidity, with the fleshy, well-balanced fruit character that 20-year-old vines and selective leaf-plucking deliver. The finish is clean, bright, and refreshingly long.

Pairs With

Pipers Sauvignon Blanc 2024 pairs beautifully with fresh oysters, grilled prawns, goat’s cheese, Thai green curry, and light salads — a versatile, food-friendly Tasmanian white of genuine freshness and precision.

Winemaking Notes

Cold harvested at night and carefully de-stemmed and crushed using fully protective handling to avoid juice oxidation — preserving the naturally vibrant tropical aromas and flavours that define this wine. Juice is brightly clarified and fermented very slowly at cool temperatures in stainless steel vats before early bottling under screw cap to preserve the intensely perfumed aromas and fresh tropical fruit character, with crisp, balanced acidity.

Vintage Conditions

Produced from grapes grown at Strathlynn on the west bank of the Tamar River, 70km from Pipers Brook. The Tamar Valley’s hillside slopes offer protection from prevailing westerly winds, promoting warm, settled conditions for much of the growing season, with surprisingly low rainfall. Soils are a mixture of brown Chromosol and Vertosol (black cracking clay), both with excellent water holding capacity. Vines averaging 20 years of age are grown on cane-pruned VSP trellises, with selective leaf-plucking to achieve full ripeness and well-balanced, fleshy flavours.
