Lake Breeze Bernoota Shiraz Cabernet 2022 from Langhorne Creek is a distinguished blend that exemplifies the exceptional quality of this renowned South Australian wine region. This expertly crafted wine combines Shiraz's bold character with Cabernet's structural elegance, offering remarkable depth and ageing potential of at least 10 years.

Appearance

Deep ruby red with purple hues, displaying excellent concentration and viscosity that hints at the wine's richness and quality.

Aroma

The nose opens with enticing aromas of dark berries and ripe plums, complemented by distinctive notes of chocolate mint. Smoky oak adds complexity and depth, whilst subtle hints of spice and eucalyptus reflect the wine's Australian heritage.

Palate

Medium to full-bodied with a luxurious mouthfeel that showcases the classic sweetness of Langhorne Creek fruit. Rich dark berry and plum flavours are beautifully integrated with chocolate mint nuances and smoky oak influence. The wine's silky tannins provide elegant structure without overwhelming the generous fruit character, leading to a long, satisfying finish with excellent balance.

Pairs With

This versatile red wine complements grilled steaks, slow-cooked lamb shanks, beef casseroles, and mature hard cheeses. It's equally enjoyable with barbecued meats or rich pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces.

Winery & Vintage Info

‘Bernoota’ was the original name given to the homestead on the Lake Breeze property - it is an Aboriginal name for ‘camp among the gum trees’.

The 2022 ‘Bernoota’ is a blend of Shiraz (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), carefully selected from old vines on the Follett family vineyard.

The wine was fermented on skins in open static fermenters for 7-10 days, followed by maturation for 20 months in American and French oak barriques.
