The 2024 Josef Chromy Pinot Gris from Tasmania boasts a beautiful pale rose gold colour. Its highly aromatic and complex nose reveals notes of honeydew melon, blushed peach skin, lychee fruit, and warming ginger spice. The rich and oily texture is perfectly balanced by refreshing acidity, highlighting flavours of red apple, honeydew melon, lychee, and juicy persimmon.

Green apple, crunchy nashi pear and some estery banana notes with the exuberance of youth. Silky and slinky, with notes of crushed stone, marzipan, meadow flowers, distant herbs and nougat. A short maceration on skins to enhance aroma and flavour compounds was followed by gentle pressing. The free run, characterised by purity and freshness, was fermented in stainless steel tanks at a cool temperature to capture its delicate nature. The pressings, a more structural component, were fermented and aged for a short period in old oak barrels to enhance texture, body and weight without imparting much oak flavour. The two components were later combined to create the final blend. The wine was bottled in the late winter months just in time for spring drinking.
