Experience the luxurious taste of Greenock Creek Alices Shiraz 2022. The rich colour and generous aroma of redcurrants, blueberries, and other flavours create a soft and indulgent sensation. Featuring a concentrated spicy fruit base and accompanied by supple tannins, this full-bodied wine delivers a succulent and pure flavour. Finish your evening with a satisfying and lingering conclusion that will leave you craving for more.

"I've always like the Alices Shiraz in this winery's portfolio. Incredibly concentrated and lush with uber-ripe blackberry, black cherry and satsuma plum fruits. Hints of baking spices, dark chocolate-dipped cherries and raspberries with blueberry pie, citrus blossom, earth and dark chocolate bullets. It comes across as impossibly packed with fruit, the ferrous tannins have a bit of chew, and the wine sails off on a cloud of liquored cherry and plums."

Winery & Vintage Info

The vines were planted in 1997 on ancient slaty siltstone mixed with dark brown clays and loam. The siltstone seems to show up in the wine as midpalate spiciness and savoury tannins. The brown clay lends the wine its chocolate/mocha spectrum with fruit that tends towards raspberry and redcurrant, which makes for a particularly food-friendly Shiraz.

The long rows in this vineyard give plush, voluptuous fruit. The winery has cut back the vines here and moved to rod and spur pruning, which we find gives us more freshness. We only used fruit from the long rows in 2022. The short rows tend to be more savoury and linear and contribute coffee and mocha notes. These vines can produce excellent grapes but Greenock Creek Vineyards is gearing their viticulture towards balancing those savoury tendencies with clearer fruit expression.

The 2022 matured in American oak, 15% of which was new.
