Production Notes

Gekkeikan Junmai Sake is brewed in Kyoto, Japan — the historic heart of Japanese sake culture — using the traditional Junmai method, which uses only rice, water, yeast, and koji, with no added distilled alcohol. The result is a sake of genuine purity, mineral-driven character, and clean, herbaceous flavour that reflects both the quality of Gekkeikan’s ingredients and the precision of their 14-generation brewing heritage. Suitable for serving warm, chilled, or at room temperature.

Producer History

Gekkeikan was founded in 1637 in Fushimi, Kyoto — one of Japan’s most celebrated sake brewing regions, renowned for its exceptionally pure water. Brewer by appointment to the Imperial household, Gekkeikan has been producing sake for over 380 years and 14 generations, making it one of the oldest and most respected sake producers in the world. The name Gekkeikan means “crown of laurel” — a symbol of honour, achievement, and the enduring pursuit of excellence that has defined Gekkeikan’s brewing philosophy for nearly four centuries.
