The fruit for this wine is sourced from a vineyard that has a long history of growing exceptional quality Botrytis fruit for De Bortoli wines.
Nice spring rains got the growing season off to a good start with healthy vines and crop. Early summer rains instigated the botrytis in the vineyard earlier than desired but then the rest of the summer and early autumn were dry to stem the spread and then Easter rain in late March set the Botrytis on its way again and harvest followed quickly in early April.
The 2021 vintage is all about the fruit with only 22% of the blend matured in older French Oak barriques to impart nuances of vanillin oak, leaving the fruit to shine bright in your glass.
