The 2025 vintage benefited from ideal growing conditions—warm, dry summer months following a cool spring, resulting in wines of excellent quality and concentration. Winery & Vintage Info

42°S is the central latitude of Tasmania and reflects the cool climate position for which the grapes are grown. The finished wine is driven by the quality of the fruit with minimal intervention from the winemaking team who choose to let the fruit do the work.

Winemaking Notes:
This 100% Pinot Noir from the Coal River Valley was meticulously hand-harvested at low yields of 5-6 tonnes per hectare to ensure optimal fruit concentration and quality. The grapes were crushed into fermenters and underwent a 48-hour pre-ferment cold soak to gently extract colour and aromatics whilst preserving the delicate fruit character. Fermentation employed both inoculated and wild yeasts, adding layers of complexity and terroir expression. Daily pump-overs ensured gentle extraction before the wine was pressed off skins when dry. Following malolactic fermentation in tank, the wine was aged on its lees to develop texture and mouthfeel, then carefully filtered to preserve the vibrant fruit freshness that defines this elegant expression of Tasmanian Pinot Noir.

Vintage Conditions:
The 2025 vintage in Tasmania's Coal River Valley proved exceptional for Pinot Noir production. Winter brought good, average rainfall, replenishing soil moisture reserves. September saw an early warm spell lasting ten days before cooler weather returned, resulting in early bud-burst. Cool, windy southerly conditions during November slowed flowering and naturally reduced yields, concentrating flavour development in the remaining fruit. The increased canopy density required additional vineyard management to ensure optimal sun exposure and air circulation. From January through March, the region experienced beautiful warm weather with extremely dry conditions, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly whilst developing excellent phenolic maturity. Good rainfall returned in June, just after harvest. These ideal conditions produced wines of exceptional quality, with concentrated fruit flavours, balanced acidity, and refined tannin structure that truly showcase the potential of this remarkable vintage.
