Alexandre Le Grand created this herbal liqueur recipe with the assistance of a local chemist. To market the liqueur he embellished the story of it's creation, leading many to believe it had been developed by monks at the Benedictine Abbey of Fécamp in Normandy until the downfall of the abbey during the French Revolution.

DOM stands for 'Deo Opitimo Maximo' or 'To God, most good, most great' and was placed on the bottle to further solidify the myth. The recipe is held secret to a select few at any time, but does contain 27 different herbs and spices. 21 of which are known, they are Angelica, hyssop, juniper, myrrh, saffron, mace, fir cones, aloe, arnica, lemon balm, tea, thyme, coriander, clove, lemon, vanilla, orange peel, honey, red berries, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Dom Benedictine liqueur hue is rich, coppery with golden highlights, with herbal and spicy fragrance. Citrus hints of tangerine zest with subtle notes of pine. A silky and rich palate with light honey and citrus notes with soft almonds.
