Winemaking Notes

La Grande Année 2015 is a blend of 11 crus — 60% Pinot Noir from Verzenay, Aÿ, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, and 40% Chardonnay from Chouilly and Avize. Fermentation takes place entirely in oak barrels approximately 20 years old, developing complex aromas and, through micro-oxygenation, lending extraordinary ageing potential. The wine is aged sealed with a natural cork for more than twice the time required by the appellation. Dosage is moderate at 8 g/L. Presented in a 3-litre Jéroboam format, gift boxed.

Vintage Conditions

The 2015 vintage in Champagne was marked by remarkable weather — blazing hot sunshine moderated by rain showers and Bollinger’s expertise. Harvest began on 4 September, delivering compact bunches of small berries with quite high levels of acidity and very high quality fruit. One sign that 2015 would be an excellent year was evident from the outset — the vintage conditions producing La Grande Année of extraordinary complexity, precision, and ageing potential that can be enjoyed now or cellared further with confidence.
