Angove McLaren Vale The Medhyk Shiraz 2018

“This is good, defined by a splay of ripe grape tannins melding effortlessly with a band of oak (17 months, all Burgundian, 20% new), gentle bottle age and the reductive stamp of the house, imparting tension and, in this instance, not too much of the iodine note. Old-vine punch. Mottled blue and black berries, Seville orange, some spice and soaring Blewitt Springs violets. Plush, but taut. Measured, but generous. Very good warm-climate shiraz, as far as warm-climate shiraz goes."
