The Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 vintage is a stunning bright and dense crimson colour. The aromas are intense and complex for a young wine - red fruits, raspberry, red currant with dark cherries, coupled with a floral and spicy note. The palate is super fine and silky with layers of flavour and texture leading to a long and bold finish.

Winery & Vintage Info

After a long search of the Mornington Peninsula during the mid-1990’s, the Kirby family found the ideal parcel of land in Tuerong, located in the north of the peninsula. After thorough soil surveys, and careful mapping and planning of this special site, the vineyard was planted in 1998, a feat overseen by founding viticulturist Keith Harris.

At Yabby Lake, they're focused on crafting wines of great purity, that provide a clear insight into not only where they come from, but also the season they were grown. It’s the attention and care in the vineyard that is most critical to allowing this expression.

Our vineyard is worked and cared for by our diligent vineyard team, managed now by viticulturist, Thomas Schulz. Continuing a 20-year legacy, Thomas and his team take meticulous measures to keep the vineyard at its finest, hand pruning each and every vine during winter, and handpicking the fruit they bear come harvest in the summer.

Working with winemaker Tom, and following in the footsteps of founding viticulturists Keith Harris and Martin Sampson, Thomas's knowledge and dedication to this site are critical to allowing the special vineyard to reach its potential.

2022 was a vintage of tiny yields, the lowest in our history. The total crop was down 70% on our long term average, we averaged 700kg per acre. this was due to severe storms during flowering. However, the positive is the 2022 Single Vineyard Chardonnay and the 2022 Single Vineyard Pinot are of exceptional quality. They are intense, with incredible balance and persistence. Cellar for at least five years, and preferably more than 10. Winery Notes
