Wynns The Siding Shiraz 2024 has upheld Wynns Coonawarra Estate’s reputation as a producer of premium Coonawarra Shiraz since 1952 — crafted by winemaker Sue Hodder from the terra rossa soils that define the region. Intense wild blackberry and savoury bramble with distinctive white floral notes on the nose; elegant and silky on the palate with attractive dark fruits, delicate oak, and ripe tannins; a drawn-out finish with hints of cedar, nutmeg, and fragrant bay leaf. Beautifully balanced and ready to enjoy now or cellar to 2030.

Appearance

Deep crimson with the vibrant colour of a cool-climate Coonawarra Shiraz from the 2024 vintage — the clarity and depth that terra rossa over limestone soils and Sue Hodder’s considered winemaking consistently deliver.

Aroma

Intense fruits fast out of the box — wild blackberry and a savoury, bramble backdrop, with distinctive white floral notes that lift the aromas and speak of the classically aromatic Coonawarra style. Ground black pepper and berry in the background, with the cool-climate character that has defined this wine since 1952.

Palate

Elegant and silky — attractive dark fruits with delicate oak used to match and support the fine palate structure, leaving room for ripe tannins to complete the picture without dominating the distinctive cool-climate character. The finish is drawn out with hints of cedar, nutmeg, and fragrant bay leaf. A beautifully balanced wine ready to enjoy now or cellar in the medium term.

Pairs With

Smoky grilled meats and vegetables, slow-roasted lamb, char-grilled beef, and aged hard cheeses — the silky tannins, wild blackberry depth, and cedar finish make Wynns The Siding Shiraz a deeply satisfying and natural partner for the finest food at the table. Drink now to 2030.

Producer History

Wynns Coonawarra Estate was established in 1951 and is one of Australia’s most celebrated and historically significant wineries — the custodian of some of Coonawarra’s finest terra rossa over limestone soils. The Siding Shiraz has been produced since 1952, taking its name from the original railway siding at the Wynns estate — a nod to the history and heritage of a wine that has upheld Wynns’ reputation as a producer of premium Coonawarra Shiraz for over 70 years. Sue Hodder, one of Australia’s most respected winemakers, continues that tradition with the same commitment to cool-climate elegance, fine structure, and the distinctive Coonawarra character that has defined The Siding since its very first vintage.
