"Early to be looking at Pinot Noir from 2019, even before the year has closed, but I guess demand for the bang-per-buck offerings from Wickhams Road necessitates early release. Anyway, I most often get to these wines before CM and MB, being a man of the people and all. There’s usually some to and fro on which is better – Gippsland or Yarra – but either way, the wines rarely let you down. Unlike CM and MB.
Rich and spicy, dense and firm in structure with a cinnamon spice and floral perfume over ripe cherry and raspberry. It’s full of flavour, with depth of fruit and a sappy dried herb undertow. Finish offers perfume, succulent fruit, a subtle amaro bitterness, and fine length. It’s a very strong release here, with more to come."

The fruit for Wickhams Road 2019 Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is from a combination of Upper Yarra Valley fruit and some experimental blocks off Hoddles. The wine sees about 20% whole bunches in the ferment to give spice and fine tannins. Spends about 20 days on skins and is bottled without fining or filtration. Winery Notes
