The 2018 Turkey Flat Shiraz is tightly coiled. A wine of great finesse, the power and longevity of this wine will only be revealed with time, be that open for a day on your kitchen bench or a decade in your cellar. With time boysenberry, blackberry, violet, earth, clove toast and cedar-wood will all be revealed to expose a wine of tension, restraint and underlying power.

“Ground coffee, ripe plum/redcurrant and blackberry flavours sweep confidently through the palate, chicory and sweet earth characters carried along for the ride. It’s not flashy or necessarily seductive, but it’s the most impeccable Barossa shiraz you could ever hope to find. It will mature beautifully”
95 Points, Gold - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion 2021

"Brilliant Barossa Shiraz that comes off the back of an unnervingly good array of new releases. This sits just above medium weight with great depth of flavour but a levity and freshness born from fine tannin and bright acidity. Red berries, lots of sweeet spice, light herbal notes and judicious wood seasoning. This drinks like a charm."
96 Points - Mike Bennie, Wine Business Magazine

Winery & Vintage Info

Shiraz is a variety that carries great significance in the Barossa Valley and as caretakers for some of the oldest surviving Shiraz vines in the world (dating back to 1847), Turkey Flat take immense pride in crafting this wine. Their highly acclaimed Shiraz has received numerous awards since its first vintage in 1990. However it's the versatility of this wine, in the way it embraces both power and elegance is that which the winery is most proud of. The 2018 vintage whilst approachable in its youth will cellar for many years.
The 2018 growing season was long, hot and dry leading to a slightly early, low yielding vintage. The wines from the 2018 vintage are fruit rich, well coloured and of substance. The vintage will be remembered for producing wines that reflect the generosity for which has made the Barossa famous.
The 2018 Turkey Flat Shiraz is a result of a very intricate blending process. After each parcel of fruit is individually vinified & aged in specially selected French oak barrels, the final blend is created with careful consideration to upholding its reputation for cellaring gracefully, retaining its freshness and balance for many years.
