Taylors Estate Merlot 2025 is a medium to full-bodied Clare Valley and Limestone Coast Merlot of genuine depth and approachable elegance — lush red berry, plum, and fruit cake characters superbly balanced by the oak’s creamy mocha, spice, and subtle savoury notes, with a silky, plump texture, grainy tannins through the mid-palate, and a long, persistent finish. Matured in a combination of older French and American oak barrels for 9–12 months before blending and bottling. Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar comfortably over the medium term under ideal conditions. 14.5% ABV.

Appearance

Garnet red with an intense purple hue to the edge — the vivid, youthful colour of a 2025 Merlot of genuine concentration and fruit-driven character from Clare Valley and the Limestone Coast.

Aroma

Distinct aromas of red and blackberries, plum, and mulberry lead an expressive and inviting nose, with savoury spice, sweet mocha, and dark chocolate characters adding depth and complexity — a bouquet of genuine richness and regional character.

Palate

Medium to full-bodied and lush — red berry, plum, and fruit cake characters are superbly balanced by the oak’s creamy mocha, spice, and subtle savoury notes. The texture is silky and plump, with grainy tannins through the mid-palate and a long, persistent finish that speaks of 9–12 months of careful oak maturation.

Pairs With

Roasted lamb, beef bourguignon, duck confit, mushroom risotto, and aged hard cheeses. A Merlot of this texture and fruit depth is as comfortable at a weeknight dinner as it is at a special occasion table.

Producer History

Taylors Wines was established in 1969 by Bill Taylor Sr. and his family in the Clare Valley, South Australia — a region they recognised as one of Australia’s finest for producing wines of genuine character and longevity. The Taylor family planted their first vines at Wakefield Estate on the banks of the Wakefield River, and over five decades have grown Taylors into one of Australia’s most celebrated family-owned wine producers, with the Estate Label representing the accessible, fruit-forward expression of the Taylors range. Known internationally as Wakefield Wines, Taylors has built a reputation for consistent quality, regional integrity, and wines that genuinely over-deliver at every price point — a family tradition now in its third generation.
