The 2020 vintage Tamellini Soave from Italy is straw yellow, with an intensely fragrant and floral aromatics. Flavours are intense and velvety with a note of almonds. Enjoy this wine as an aperitif, part with pizza margherita with mozzarella di bufala and basil, fresh water fish or a delicate pasta or rice dish. Short description of the vinification and ageing process: the clusters are selected in the vineyard; de-stemming, soft crushing, the must is cooled at 5 degrees Celsius, the first run of the must is fermented with temperature control at 15 degrees Celsius; after fermentation the wine rests for 4-5 months before being bottled. After 1 month minimum from bottling the wine is released on the market.

Reviews

"I often wonder why Soave is not more popular in Australia. Good examples make such a lovely fresh drink. This one is 100% Gargamel and goes well with char-grilled Smurf. Importer: Sante Lightly floral, almond, green pear and white peach, lemon rind, but all kind of low key in a pleasing classic dry white way. It has a fine chalky texture, slightly glossy too, but crisp, more to yellow fruit on a pretty long finish. So charming, and lovely to drink." 92 Points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, December 2021, Drink: 2022 - 2025

Winery & Vintage Info

Owners Gaetano and Pio Francesco Tamellini have earned the estate an outstanding reputation as winemakers of the Tamellini Italian Soave as one of only two dozen estate-bottled growers and producers of authentic Soave. With the assistance of Paolo Caciorgna, one of Italy’s most accomplished white winemakers, shows the metamorphosis from supplier to producer began in 1998.

The 34 hectares of vineyards are planted to 100% Garganega (27 hectares of Soave DOC and 7 hectares of Soave Classico) and lie in one of the most classic zones of production which is San Vittore, at the foot of the hills, where they produce Soave DOC from the zone of Costeggiola from which Tamellini produce their single vineyard ‘Le Bine’. Disease and pest control are carried out only when necessary using environmentally friendly products such as Bordeaux poultice and dry sulphur products. No type of herbicide is used, only the grass is mown. No mineral or organic fertilisers are used.

The clusters are selected in the vineyard and collected in bins by hand. The press is done without de-stemming and with soft crushing to maintain the original rich aromas and taste. The must is cooled at 5 degrees Celsius; than the must is fermented with temperature control at 15 degrees Celsius; after fermentation the wine rests for 3-4 months before the 2020 Tamellini Italian Soave was bottled.
