The 2019 Sutton Grange Estate Syrah is a stunning deep purple and ruby colour with bright clarity. The nose has vibrant blackberry fruits with violet perfume and pepper spice layers. Juicy blackberry fruits on the palate join in with fresh acidity and a supporting background of mocha.

Winery & Vintage Info

Sutton Grange is located on the southern edge of the Bendigo region, and for many years was known for its thoroughbred racing facility. Since planting of the vineyards in 1998 it is now recognised for the wines it produces. The Sutton Grange vineyard is cultivated using organic methods, and the wines are traditionally handcrafted by winemaker Melanie Chester.

The 2019 vintage saw an average Winter, with good water storage. Super cold and dry Spring, with lots of frost pressure. Rain around December meant we had solid canopy growth. Ripening was influenced by a few warm days in early February, while later in the month and early March saw nice and easy conditions. It resulted in the most balanced year we have seen with canopy and fruit.
