Primavera is Stefano Lubiana's signature expression of Tasmanian Pinot Noir — a wine that has earned its place among Australia's most compelling cool-climate reds. Drawn from Lubiana-managed vineyards in the Derwent and Huon Valleys, the 2025 vintage combines two contrasting terroirs: grey gravelly loams over clay and red loam over gravel. The result is a wine of fragrant immediacy, brooding depth, and greater savoury complexity and aromatic lift than its 2024 predecessor.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fragrant stock flowers and musk open the bouquet with characteristic Tasmanian delicacy. Spice and vanilla weave through dark citrus — chinotto and blackcurrant peel — before giving way to brooding black cherry, blackberry and a lift of fresh raspberry. There is real aromatic depth here.

Palate: Medium-bodied, plush and generous in texture. Black cherry and blackberry fruit carry the mid-palate with purpose, framed by firm mineral tannins that are firm without austerity. The wine was taken off skins early to preserve brightness — a decision that shows clearly in the wine's lively, focused fruit character.

Finish: Long, balanced and satisfying, with lingering mineral structure and fine-grained tannin. The savoury complexity builds on the finish, rewarding patience. Best from 2027; cellar with confidence for 5+ years.

Vineyard & Winemaking

All fruit is 100% hand picked and hand sorted. Fermentation is mostly wild, using Lubiana's own resident yeasts, with some whole bunches incorporated to add spice and structural complexity. After approximately three weeks on skins — a careful balance struck to retain brightness — the wine is basket pressed and settled naturally. Certified biodynamic estate; no synthetics, no additives. The Derwent Valley (grey gravelly loams over clay) and Huon Valley (red loam over gravel) vineyards each bring distinct textural registers that together define the wine's layered character.
