Seppelt The Drives Chardonnay 750mL
Seppelt The Drives Chardonnay 750mL
Seppelt The Drives Chardonnay is has a pale straw with golden hue appearance. The nose displays aromas of white peach, and melon combined with oatmeal and sweet toasty oak. Consistent with previous vintages, the palate carries flavours of full, sweet stone fruits and citrus peel, knotted together with talcy texture and fine, citrusy acid. Fantastic length of flavour balanced well with leesy creaminess for a round and generous finish. The Drives Chardonnay is a great example of the new style of premium Chardonnay that is coming out of Australia, which is aiming for a tight, fruit focussed palate rather than excessive oak treatment.

Winery & Vintage Info
The Drives by Seppelt Wines celebrates the superb regionality of selected Victorian vineyards as well as the determination and vision of Seppelt's founder Joseph Ernst Seppelt, a pioneer and visionary winemaker from the Victorian era, who planted the first Seppelt vineyard in 1851.
The fruit for the The Drives Chardonnay was primarily sourced from vineyards located in the Grampians and Henty regions. Both regions are known for their cold, wet winters while the summers have warm days and cool nights, which is perfect for producing Chardonnay with intense fruit flavours and crisp, cleansing natural acidity.
This natural acidity provides an excellent foundation for winemakers to build more complex flavours. The wine was fermented in a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels, to add delicate oak influence whilst retaining a fresh fruit focus. Barrel stirring increases yeast complexity and texture, as does a portion of malolactic fermentation. Winery Notes
