The 2023 Poggiotondo Vermentino from Tuscany, Italy, is an organic white wine that captures the essence of coastal Mediterranean viticulture with exceptional freshness.

This elegant wine displays a luminous straw-yellow colour with golden highlights. The nose reveals an enticing bouquet of white florals—lily and daffodil—alongside aromas of golden apple, ripe white peach, and bright citrus peel, with subtle tropical fruit nuances adding complexity.

On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced with refreshing acidity and medium body. A pronounced minerality reflects the marine-influenced terroir, whilst flavours of stone fruit and citrus provide vibrancy. The texture is smooth and engaging, leading to a gentle, savoury finish with excellent persistence.

Crafted by Poggiotondo with organic farming practices, this Vermentino showcases the purity and character that Tuscan coastal whites are renowned for. The 2023 vintage offers immediate drinking pleasure with its bright, food-friendly profile.

Winery & Vintage Info

Produced by renowned winemaker Alberto Antonini at the Poggiotondo estate in the hills of western Tuscany, the 2023 Vermentino is produced from 100% Vermentino grapes grown in certified organic vineyards along the Tuscan coast. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve their delicate aromas, followed by ageing on lees for approximately 60 days to enhance richness and complexity. The vineyards, situated on marine-origin soils rich with fossilised seashells, benefit from a Mediterranean climate and organic farming practices certified since 2014. The 2023 vintage reflects a warm, sunny growing season, contributing to the wine’s aromatic intensity and balanced structure, with minimal oak influence to maintain its crisp, varietal character.
