Pirathon Blue Shiraz 2022 from Barossa Valley is a vibrant, fruit-forward red wine showcasing the region's exceptional Shiraz character. This approachable yet complex wine offers outstanding quality from independent liquor specialists.

Appearance

Crimson red with brilliant clarity and attractive depth. The wine displays a youthful, vibrant hue with purple highlights that speak to its freshness. Medium to full-bodied viscosity is evident, with pronounced legs coating the glass, indicating excellent fruit concentration and quality oak maturation.

Aroma

The nose is beautifully lifted with enticing aromas of blue fruits—blueberry and blackberry dominate. Delicate floral hints add elegance, whilst warm spice notes of cinnamon and nutmeg provide complexity. Attractive nougat oak frames the fruit perfectly, with subtle vanilla and cedar undertones from the seasoned American and French oak barrels. The aromatic profile is generous and inviting, with the oak enhancing rather than overwhelming the pure fruit expression.

Palate

Fresh and supple on entry, the palate delivers rich varietal flavours of blood plums, black cherry, and blueberry. The fruit is ripe and concentrated, showing excellent depth and purity. Velvety plush tannins provide wonderful texture, length, and structure without heaviness. The mid-palate reveals layers of warm spice—vanilla, cinnamon, and cedar from the oak maturation—beautifully integrated with the fruit. The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering dark fruit and gentle spice. Made for immediate enjoyment but will reward medium-term cellaring.

Pairs With

Perfect with grilled lamb chops, beef burgers, and barbecued sausages. Pairs beautifully with pizza, pasta bolognese, and mature cheddar. Also excellent alongside roasted vegetables, mushroom dishes, or casual weekend dining.
