The fruit for this wine is sourced entirely from the iconic Balgownie vineyard in Maiden Gully, planted from 1969. Prior to this there had been no vineyard plantings in Bendigo for over 80 years. This site has long held in high esteem for producing wines of vibrant purity and sense of place.

2021 was a cooler season in Bendigo, allowing brighter characteristics and complexity to shine through.

The fruit is de-stemmed and hand sorted before being traditionally vinified in open stainless-steel fermenters, hand plunged twice daily. Fermented on skins for 12 days, the wine is then pressed off skins to old hog heads and matured in oak for 12 months before being bottled. Minimal fining, aged in bottle for 12 months before release.
