The 2021 Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz is a bright medium garnet hue. With aromas of blackberry, black cherries, vanilla, tar and baking spice. Raspberries, red currant, red liquorice and blackberry mix on the palate with baking spice and mocha notes. Pure, acid drive and silky tannins.

"Beautiful, perfumed aromas greet from the start, cherry and dark plum with a spicy raspberry nuance. The palate is medium bodied and elegantly presented with those cherries and blackberry flavours emerging with a little sprinkle of pepper and dried herbs. The oak is well-weighted with the fine chalky tannins in support."

Winery & Vintage Info

The 2021 Cliff Edge Shiraz is sourced from a selection of blocks across the historic Mount Langi Ghiran vineyard situated in the Grampians region of Victoria, where the combination of Langi’s cool climates, old vines and granite sands produce Shiraz with great intensity, purity and finesse.

2021 was another relatively mild year in terms of temperatures. Yields were back up above average, and quality was good, however, ripening was drawn out but this does give us loads of spice and a full basket of fruit flavours. Our Shiraz showing great spice, elegant tannins and firm acid drive.

100% whole berry ferments in both small open, and large, open-top concrete fermenters. A mixture of plunging and pump-overs during an average of two weeks on skins. Natural yeasts were used and once ferment was complete, the wines were pressed to tank to settle overnight and then transferred to barrels to complete MLF. 14-month barrel maturation in French barriques, approximately 30% new.
