Mitchell Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz 2017 (Clare Valley)

The 2017 Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz has a component of whole bunch fermentation which gives a wonderful lifted perfume to the wine and helps with the tannin structure. The Shiraz is estate bottled after 18 months in French oak barrels.

A late start to the growing season, due to cool and wet weather, the wettest year since 2000, with 1000mm of rain. This led to a later start for vintage. The vines were in great condition with strong canopies, fruit was of a high quality across the board.

Fruit for this wine is grown in our mature, dry grown vineyard that yields just one tonne per acre. No artificial fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides were used. The wineries old dry-grown vines grew a wonderfully balanced crop with great flavour development, and potential for long lived wines.
