A little untraditional, Mac Forbes choose not to provide tasting notes for any of their wines. Their wines capture vineyard life and vitality, and as such they are constantly evolving. The belief of Mac Forbes is the only tasting notes that matter are yours. It is recommended to decant this wine prior to serving at between 14 & 16˚C.

Reviews & Accolades
”It was a fine year in the Yarra Valley for Pinot Noir, by all accounts. It’s bony, sappy and spicy, has a distinct ‘mulchy’ thing going on, strawberry the main fruit. Light in body, again spicy and mulchy, a touch smoky, with light tannin, nervy acidity and a gentle dusting of tannin. Finish tends towards sour and sappy, but there’s an energy and vibrancy here that, I think, will show well with a few more years in bottle.”

Winery & Vintage Info

Mac Forbes philosophy towards Pinot is to look after the detail, keep it simple and respect the fruit. The onus is on fruit quality and balance and not on winemaking solutions or corrections. For Mac Forbes, winemaking is an extension of the vineyard where we aim to capture the fruit expression and carry this through to bottle. The fruit is picked ripe but still crunchy to taste. The Yarra Valley Pinot is a blend of fruit from Coldstream, Woori Yallock, Yarra Junction, and Hoddles Creek vineyards.

The 2019 growing season was warm and dry. Below average rainfall and warmer conditions placed huge demands on the plants. Thankfully, in early February the vines welcomed two weeks of cool days and nights returning freshness and vigour. Overall small bunches and small berries characterised the season with above average structure and fruit weight.
