Leeuwin Estate Art Series Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is a wine of remarkable clarity, finesse, and aromatic intensity — a pure Margaret River expression from one of Australia’s most celebrated fine wine estates, and a vintage that will be remembered for ideal ripening conditions and fruit of exceptional flavour and purity. Label artwork “Ripple” by Lachlan Stonehouse. Intense and fragrant perfumes of jasmine, kaffir, daisy flowers, and fennel; a tapestry of lemon, lime, black pastille, and guava; complexity revealed through pistachio, blanched almonds, and a touch of cardamom. On the palate, grapefruit, lemon, native lime, and granita, with precise shape and frame, lively acidity, an ocean spray nuance, and an enviable long talc finish.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

Bright, luminous pale straw with green hints — the fresh, precise colour of a Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc of exceptional clarity and finesse, from old vines that thrived in the ideal ripening conditions of the 2025 vintage.

Aroma

Intense and fragrant — jasmine, kaffir, daisy flowers, and fennel greet the nose, followed by a tapestry of lemon, lime, black pastille, and guava. Elements of complexity reveal with pistachio, blanched almonds, and just a touch of cardamom. Remarkable purity and aromatic depth.

Palate

A myriad of flavours and textures — grapefruit, lemon, native lime, and granita, with a precise shape and frame that carries purity and clarity throughout. Lively acidity creates energy, then combines with an ocean spray nuance. Savoury layers and textures run parallel to the fruits and acidity, leading to an enviable long talc finish.

Pairs With

A natural companion for freshly shucked oysters, ceviche, grilled barramundi, Margaret River marron, goat’s cheese, and any occasion that calls for a wine of genuine precision, purity, and aromatic complexity — equally rewarding now and will develop beautifully over the near term.

Finish

Long, precise, and deeply satisfying — lemon, lime, guava, and the savoury talc nuance fading with lively acidity and ocean spray, leaving a clean, complex close of genuine Margaret River distinction. An enviable finish.

Winemaking Notes

Grapes crushed and pressed, juice cold-settled, clarified, racked, and inoculated with selected pure yeast cultures. 30% of the juice fermented in one-year-old French oak barriques, matured four months on lees with fortnightly bâtonnage to build subtle texture and complexity. Barrel-fermented and matured components blended with the tank-fermented portion, then lightly fined, stabilised, and sterile filtered. Fining: bentonite, PVPP, and milk. 13% ABV, final acid 6.96 g/L, pH 3.00, average Brix 22.0. Bottled 23–24 September 2025. Released December 2025.

Vintage Conditions

The 2025 vintage at Leeuwin Estate will be remembered as one defined by ideal ripening conditions and fruit of exceptional flavour intensity and purity. Late winter brought significant rainfall, rejuvenating the landscape and replenishing dams and waterways. A gentle, favourable spring encouraged strong flowering and an even fruit set. Summer was marked by luminous warm days tempered by cooling south-easterly breezes, preserving pristine aromatics and natural acidity. Sauvignon Blanc performed particularly well — budburst in early September, ideal flowering in mid to late November, and harvest commencing in late February and concluding by 16 March, delivering fruit of remarkable clarity and finesse. Old vines thrived, producing slightly lower yields that translated into wines of profound concentration, texture, and complexity.
