Kreglinger Wine Estate Vintage Brut 2019 is a traditional method Tasmanian sparkling wine of genuine distinction — sourced from a single high-density vineyard in the Pipers Brook district, where annual heat summation of 950–1050 growing degree days (GDD) compares very favourably with Champagne (1030 GDD), and Ferrosol volcanic soils provide the steady moisture and nourishment that define the site’s character. Hand harvested in the cold morning hours, whole bunch pressed, barrel fermented in selected parcels, and bottle aged for over four years before release. Pale straw with a persistent fine bead, inviting aromas of crisp pear, wild strawberry, and toasted brioche, and an impeccably balanced palate of genuine texture, finely focused acidity, and a clean, refreshing, persistent finish.

Appearance

Pale straw with a persistent, fine bead and delicate mousse — the hallmarks of quality traditional method sparkling wine production and extended lees ageing.

Aroma

Crisp pear and subtle white peach lead an inviting and expressive bouquet, complemented by bright red apple and delicate citrus notes. Underlying hints of wild strawberry, toasted cashew, and fresh brioche add layers of complexity that reveal the wine’s four years of bottle ageing.

Palate

Impeccably balanced with superb texture and finely focused acidity — delicate pear, lemon crème, wild strawberry, and toasted brioche flavours deliver a palate of genuine complexity and refinement. The finish is clean, refreshing, and persistent, with a saline element and fine foamy bubbles that carry the wine to a nutty, citrus-laced conclusion of good length.

Pairs With

Fresh oysters, smoked salmon, soft cheeses, and light seafood dishes. Also exceptional as an apéritif — a sparkling wine of this quality is equally at home elevating a celebration or an everyday moment.

Reviews

“Strawberry shortcake, key lime, salted pastry dough. It’s quite rich and creamy, a saline element, a light grip to texture, fine foamy bubbles, with a nutty and citrus-laced finish of good length. Has some complexity and drinks well.”
— Gary Walsh, The Wine Front — 91 Points, February 2026. Drink: 2026–2030.

Winemaking Notes

Hand harvested in the cold morning hours from the Hills Vineyard in Pipers Brook, the cool fruit was whole bunch pressed to extract only the most delicate juice. Selected parcels were cool fermented in barrel to retain vibrant regional fruit characters, with subsequent malolactic fermentation and battonage to develop exceptional texture and creaminess. Blended from only the best individual parcels, this wine underwent secondary fermentation in bottle in the traditional method and was then bottle aged for over four years before release.

Vineyard Notes

Sourced from a single vineyard of significant vine age, specifically established and managed for sparkling wine production in the Pipers Brook district — chosen after many years of rigorous trialling and evaluation. Annual heat summation of 950–1050 growing degree days Celsius compares very favourably with Champagne (around 1030 GDD), making Pipers Brook one of the most naturally suited sparkling wine sites in Australia. The district is characterised by Ferrosol (volcanic) soils — basalt-derived kraznozems with excellent water-holding capacity, offering a steady supply of moisture and nourishment to vines managed without irrigation. High-density VSP trellising with narrow 1.5-metre row spacings is hedge-trimmed in summer to maximise bunch exposure to the sun. All fruit is hand-harvested.
