Kaesler Reach For The Sky Shiraz 2022 displays a vivid deep crimson colour with purple highlights. Its bouquet reveals ripe plums, blueberries, jubey florals, and hints of raspberry liquorice. On the palate, fresh fruit flavours of blueberry and wild cherry emerge, complemented by a delicate toast undertone. Winery & Vintage Info

The fruit for this wine was carefully selected from multiple blocks across our estate vineyards. Reach For The Sky is a soft, juicy style of Shiraz that reflects the opulence and diversity of Barossa.

Winter rainfall was 48% above average. The wet winter was welcomed after 3 dry years. Maximum temperatures were below average for the beginning of the growing season; however, the latter half was warmer providing good ripening conditions. A hailstorm on the 28th of October severely damaged some vines, fortunately most recovered and secondary shoots grew however, they were typically less fruitful than primary shoots which resulted in lower yields in some varieties.

Although the season was challenging, our ongoing regenerative farming techniques have assisted with building resilient vines that continue to produce outstanding fruit. This was evident in the 2022 vintage with the winemakers talking about the wines being elegant and structured with depth and length of flavour.

Sourced from estate-grown parcels, these vineyards are often in their youth and include cuttings taken from our iconic blocks (Old Bastard 1893, Alte Reben 1899, Old Vine 1962). Handpicked and fermented on the skins for 7-10 days, the wine is then bag-pressed into older French oak barriques for 14 months. Bottled mid-August 2024, this wine is deliberately made to be a little juicier, softer in tannin, and brighter than its elder sibling, the Bogan Shiraz.
