"Granitic soils planted to vines in 1999 and here with the chardonnay bits. It’s a ripper.

Texture and grace, a refinement and supreme length, fragrant, bright with chardonnay grape flavours and coursing with a mineral pulse that mixes briny tang and silty, talc-like powderiness. In the mix, a lick of nuttiness, oatmeal, barely there, beautiful though in the carriage of green apple and lemony-fresh vitality. Light, puckering tannin shapes things well and the wine finishes mouth-watering, minerally again and lightly nutty. Superb. Just. Damn. Superb."

"While there are flickers of stone fruit and citrus, this is parked in the savoury aisle. Briny and stony with clotted cream and white miso lees flavours. The palate is generous but contained, with that distinct lemon oil character from the new Stockinger barrel, and then the acidity races along allowing it to finish on a high. Compelling stuff."
95 Points - Jane Faulkner, Halliday's Wine Companion, 2nd August 2023

Winery & Vintage Info

Joshua Cooper Wines was established in 2012 with a single barrel. His wine operation was originally based around a négocient system, sourcing from sensitive and conscientious growers with great vineyard sites in the Macedon Ranges and across Central and Western Victoria.

With a focus on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon from significant and historic sites, it has been an exploration of Joshua's surroundings through wine, made without artifice, to be a reflection of place and season.

These grower vineyards will soon to be supplemented by estate grown fruit, with plantings in 2024 of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at Stone Hills, Drummond Victoria.
