"If you liked the 2014 1er Chardonnay, it’s safe to say you’ll be equally happy with the 2015.
White peach, lime, almonds and light spicy oak, with just a wisp of struck match. It’s subdued, nutty and savoury, yet pure of fruit too – like a flower waiting to open – tight grapefruity acidity, flinty texture and a cool almond and aniseed finish of impeccable length. Beautiful wine. Finesse, charm and fine tailoring all the way. Give it a couple of years in the cellar and you’ll be rewarded handsomely."

“A fruit selection (hand-picked), matured for 12 months in French barriques (30% new). Bright straw-green; it has obvious complexity, and the extra length that the best Yarra Valley chardonnays have compared to that of other regions. Grapefruit juice, zest and pith are the anchor of the flavour, and also build the trajectory of the wine through to the finish.”

Winery & Vintage Info

From a single east facing block and picked at a slightly higher ripeness than the standard label, shows a citrus drive with abundant melon and stone fruit characters.

In the winery, we treat this wine as we would normally treat all our Chardonnay. The Chardonnay is picked in the early morning, and refrigerated down to 2⁰C for 12 hours. Then it is gentle destemmed, not crushed and pressed into tank. The juice is left to settle clear for 7 days with no enzyme or acid addition.

The wine is then fermented till dryness using cultered and natural yeasts. The wine remains in cask for 12 months with occasional battonage It then remains in tank over winter to come together and freshen. The wine is not filtered, not fined, or stabilized before bottling. Winery Notes
